Visited Casa Pedregal after just visiting Casa Barragan and my obsession with the artistry of Barragan grows by the day. Such a beautiful and at times harsh manifestation of finding introspection/reflection in brutal environments (the home is built on volcanic rock during a time when the land was incredible barren), and tinkering the fine, yet still jarring balance of light and dark. My favorite part is that the house is actively lived in by the current owner, who went through painstaking renovations to restore the house to its mostly original condition after the children of the original owner manipulated it over time from the original design. During my private tour I could hear them eat dinner and share convo in the private dining space and even this world-famous design house felt like a home 🏠
